Problems with the SIM card holder slot tray

I was using a nano sim in my Nexus 4, using an adapter. When removing the adapter to go back to a normal micro sim, i think that I damaged the internal tray: after that I got the error "sim not found" from time to time in the phone, and after a while the inserted sim was not recognised. I have tried with several cards, all the same problem.

What is the procedure for replacing the internal sim card holder? I found some in ebay, and if not very complex, I will try to fix it myself.

Thanks in advance.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Do you mean the tray that is listed here as a replacement part, or the internal slot that the SIM card tray slides into? If the former, you can buy one for $4.95. The latter ... examine the tear down and determine which internal board holds the SIM card tray.

Like you said, you may have physically damaged the tray (very possible and not fun) but if the SIM is just loose and not making a good connection then you may be able to add some layers of tape to the SIM card to make it more bulky and create a tighter fit… It might allow a better connection between the phone and your SIM card and allow your phone to constantly recognize and read your SIM card(s) properly. Just make sure not to put any tape over the part of the SIM card that need to connect to the phone.

It’s worth a try and could save you a lot of time as well as some money.
