My iPod fell into water

My iPod fell into water for a few seconds before i reached it. it was working ok for about 2 hours then and suddently it stopped. now all i can acess is the diplay unit. and also it doesnt detect from the itunes softare. can anyone tell me wht can be the possible damage and how can i get it repaired..
