Color black covered by a green matrix.

Hello to all. I'm Italian and I apologize for the translation. As advised by you, I have sought an answer to my problem, before you write and I found an open discussion (Display Problem : Green on black color parts on screen), but I have not found a way to insert my post in that topic. Forgive me if I open a new thread for my problem.

The screen of my Macbook Pro 15-inch, Mid 2010 (2.53 GHz Intel Core i5 Processor, Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 256MB, Software OS X 10.9.3 (13D65)) shows the color black covered by a green matrix. This is' an example image:

How do I fix it? ? Can someone help me? I have no experience. Thank you for your attention. Silvana

Have you tried connecting an external monitor onto your system? If you have does the external monitor look the same or does it look correct with the desktop visible?

Thanks, Dan, for your answer. Yes, I tried and it look correct with the desktop visible in the external monitor. Do you know what I have to do?

Thats good! So you know its something in the internal display circuit which could be the LCD display or the LDVS cable or the LDVS cables connection to the logic board has a problem. I would start by popping off the bottom cover and inspect the LDVS cable connection. Make sure you follow the IFIXIT guide MacBook Pro 15" Unibody Mid 2010 Display Replacement. Follow upto Step 6, then jump to Step 15 to disconnect and clean with a good grade of Isopropyl alcohol (85% or better) being careful not to damage the contacts. Then reseat the cable and put everything back together and see if that fixed it, if not the whole display assembly will need to be replaced (cheapest path).

Thanks Dan. You've given me hope. I do not know if I can do myself the work that you told me. I think I'll try someone who can help me, because I'm afraid to do damage. I've never opened a computer. I need a bit of time. I'll let you know as soon as possible, if I'll be able to do everything. You are very kind. See you soon ..

Ciao, what you told me it was done, but nothing has changed. Perhaps, is it time to replace the cable? But this can be done at home? Thank you very much..
