Why is my fan on all the time?

My MacBook is a year old. I notices a couple weeks ago that the fan seems to be on all the time. I need the MAC to record and since the fan is on all the time my recordings are full of background noise. Any help with this. I have run the utility check tool and took out the battery for a couple minutes and put it back in.

Answer this question I have this problem too

As far as I know there are no fan upgrades. Cleaning works sometimes. I would check the activity monitor in the Applications - Utilities folder and see if something may be running out of control in the background, like print drivers are know to do. Also try smc fan control: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/230...

This will also give you the CPU temperature and you can watch to see if it climbs. You may need to clean the vents and reapply thermal paste.

Blow the dust out of the back

If you are using video applications (high CPU cycles) you would heat the CPU. Have you maxed out the RAM? Do you have at least 20% HD space free for swap files? (On an 80GB drive that would be more than 16GB left unused).

Any of the above could reduce or increase fan use.

Good Luck,

N.

Did you check your activity monitor for hidden programs that caused a lot of stress on the cpu?
