computer has a blank screen
Whne I turn computer on it either has a blank grey scree, a finder profile / ? mark, or a letter Y (caution symbol) that moves across screen

It sounds as if your hard drive is either bad or going bad. Can you boot to your install disk? If so boot from it and goto utilities/disk repair and run disk repair until it reports no trouble found. Let us know if this helps you. Ralph
