Which internal part contains IMEI info?

I recently (and unknowingly) bought an iPhone 4 64g on eBay and have found out that it is blacklisted. The seller has disappeared and I am left wth a "brick" and minus $400.

My old iphone 4 16g is battered beyond use with many faults so I was considering using it for parts.

My Question: is there a part containing imei info that I can (attempt) take from my broken phone and put into the "brick" so that it is identified as my old phone and therefore unblocked?

I hope this made sense.

theoretically yes, but practically no. The user data is stored in the NAND chip, which *can* be reballed if one is among the few folks that are masters of the art. In addition, there is some magic that someone under me will expound upon where there is a co-dependency which requires a simultaneous reballing of--I think---the CPU itself or some other major component in order for the NAND reball to be successful.

If you bought a blacklisted phone on eBay that wasn't described as blacklisted, just open a case in the resolution center and eBay will cover it under buyer protection, no?

Thanks for your comprehensive answer. I'm fairly new to eBay so thanks as well for your advice re the resolution center, I will pursue it and hopefully they can penalize the seller (they must be able to find him, somehow) and give me a refund.

replace both parts into new phone... if thats the case... there are really good "tear down" websites that describe every part in detail. ie... www.ifixit.com really amazing website very detailed (im not a rep for them lol)
