Why won't my iPod shut off?
Usually pressing and holding the wheel at the bottom arrow for a few seconds shuts off the device. Mine will not shut off. What can I do?
Is this a good question?

Depending on how old the device is you may need to do a full restore to eliminate possible logic errors. For a possible quick fix do a hard reset.
Do a Hard Reset:
1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Here is a forum with the same issue as yours, apparently this is an abundant issue in nanos.

press the top (menu button) to go back at the menu, then try.
It happened to me (frequently) and it is annoying - but then suddenly it worked again.
AND - just make sure the 'lock' is not on (switch the switch a few times, in case there is dirt or corrosion) toggle it

Hey, Tasha. To get more answers, you should start a new question by using the "Ask a Question" button at the upper right of the main page rather than commenting on an existing question. But here's the Apple site for troubleshooting iPod problems: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_r... You just need to pick your model on that page and then follow the advice they give. Resetting the iPod is usually the first and easiest thing to try - you can find instructions on that page for your model.
