No power. LED501 light up. Replaced PSU-still nothing

Dear iFIXIT,

I'm working on a client's iMac A1311 EMC2428. It does not boot up. No power period. I took everything apart to see any overheating damage on the PSU or the Logic Board. I replaced the PSU but still NOTHING!

My guess...the Logic Board is bad???

Please advise

Thank you

Use a multimeter and test the new power supply for output. Do you get anything but the one diagnostic light when trying to start?

I am not comfortable using a multimeter to test a live PSU. I did notice a white puff of smoke rise from the PSU when I put the iMac back together and turned it on followed by a burning smell. So at this point I think I caused a short circuit somewhere??

Obviously you have damaged (or it was defective when purchased) the PSU. You failed to mention this in you original question. At this point you may just want to take it to a Mac repairman.
