Longer Optical Drive Cable Available?

I have a 2008 A1181 Macbook Core 2 Duo machine with a shattered LCD and busted case. Machine boots okay. I've decided to gut it, mount the mainboard in a smaller case, and put it in my A/V system. The problem is that the optical drive cable is too short--I want to mount that drive over the motherboard to save space. Is there another Mac model that has a longer cable that I can use in this configuration, or is there an extender available for the existing cable?

They don't have anything for me. If I knew the type or name of the motherboard connector (early 2008, Macbook 4,1 type) I might be able to specify more exactly what I need. This is an IDE/PATA drive, and connects with an orange flat ribbon cable using an odd-shaped miniature rectangular connector to the motherboard.
