1.After using "shut down", have to turn power off/on at the wall before machine will start from button at rear of screen.

2. Randomly switches off completely from sleep mode and then require process above.

Options

Shutting down while in sleep mode usually happens when the computer has lost all power. Your data and time will not work right unless you are connected to the internet. This machine should still be under warranty and the first thing I would do is take it in. The second thing would be to take out AppleCare to extend your warranty for another two years.
