You probably have a bad inverter cable. Just to be sure hook up an external monitor and see if you have normal video. If so I would recommend replacing the inverter cable. I am including the URL's for the part and the procedure. Ralph

It's just as likely if not more likely the screen as the inverter cable. The cable is a good place to start, but be aware, you'll likely be replacing the screen too as well if that doesn't work. Once you replace the cable I would power it on and test it before putting it back together so that you don't have to go into it again if you end up needing to replace the screen.

Also, the screen hinge is not fun to break open, and it's one of the more difficult repairs. Since you've verified your video chip is working, it may be worth buying an entire known-good screen assembly (screen, hinge, cabling, etc.) on eBay for $30 and replacing the whole thing. It would save a lot of the headache, and you'd be done all in one shot.

The OP should be aware, if he buys the whole display on ebay, that he must specifically buy the 1.33 12" display cause any other iBook G4 12" display wont fit. The LVDS cable, the inverter cable, the reed switch board, the sleep magnet location are differents on the 1.33 12" model.
