What is the normal temperature of a MacBook Pro

I don't know very well what is the normal temperature of a MacBook Pro working on a normal day.

I have installed iStatMenus and sometimes it records 68 degrees and sometimes 70 - 78 degrees of temperature. The fans are working fine. So I want to know if this is normal or what should be a normal temperature.

Can a hight temperature cause a serios damage on the logic board, processor, or the NVIDIA graphics card?

Some facts:

I have Snow Leopard

4Gb or RAM

Usually I use my computer in my office with air conditioner.

Thanks a lot my friends.

It depends of the software you're running and if processor and the graphic card are doing intensive jobs or not. I think 68° to 78° is a safe temperature range in most cases. Just make sure that the MBP is well ventilated, don't let it overheat by running it on a bed but always use a flat surface to let the air flow under the case. Your logic board has an overheat protection via sensors and will shut down if the temperature reach a damaging level.

Long term overheating is hard on the logic board capacitors. They are rated for 2400 hours @ 105°C. If you run cooler they'll last longer...
