I have had my iMac in pieces again & checked the cable to the DVD (motherboard & DVD ends) both were seated ok.

Is there any test software available to check the interface to the DVD?

The label on the motherboard reads :

by

Mother board label:

W881003CVZUMA K3 MB BEST 3.06G

by

that's actually the serial number for the logic board not the computer. The serial number for the computer is on the bottom of the stand.

The reason I gave the motherboard label number was because I want to find some test software to test the the DVD interface on the motherboard.

The numbers on the base of my iMac are:

Serial No: W88121JH0N4

iMac 24"/3.06GHZ/2GB/500GB/SD/AP/BT

IC:4324A-BRCM1022 Model No.:A1225
