iPhone 4s will not turn on

One of my iPhones turned itself off the other day. We tried turning it back on with no success. I plugged it into my computer and it said it was in recovery mode. I restored it to factory setting and updated it. It was almost done updating, it said waiting for the phone, it continued to wait for the phone for an hour. I unplugged it and the phone lost power and would not turn back on. Battery was at 60%. A day later we tried to turn the phone on and it worked. It is my nephews phone, he used it for a day and then the same thing happened, it shut down and would not come back on. I plug it in my computer and it turned on. When I unplugged it, it stayed on for about 10 mins and the shut down(battery was at 70%). Now there is nothing when I plug it in to my computer or the charger. I tried to turn it on and still nothing. It is plug into the charger now. I don't think it was exposed to any water, but he does drop the phone once and a while. Any suggestion what might be wrong. Thanks Danny

I forgot to mention, that I have restrictions on this phone. Before I gave it back to my nephew I went into the restrictions and entered my password and it would not work. The password is the same one that use for all my phone, so it is not that I had the wrong password. There is no one else that knows this password, so it was not changed.

I would begin with new battery and go from there.

Thanks, I will give that a try, but if the battery was bad wouldn't it still turn on when it was pluggged into the charger

I replaced the battery and it will still not turn on. I looked in iphone 4s trouble shooting and it says that if the phone does not turn on after replacing the battery, then it is the logic board. Is my next step to replace the logic board, and if so can I buy one on this site? I looked and could not find any for sale.
