What is the name of part that replaces the power port?

My daughter spilled juice on the seat where the computer (MacBook 13") was sitting with it's ports into the crease. The liquid got into the ports. The computer was opened up and the juice inside was cleaned up with distilled water. The computer then worked, but only with the power cord attached. The battery was fine, but it wasn't communicating. It is my understanding that we need to replace the ports and the device attached to them. What is that part called?

The MagSafe Port. To help you anymore I would need to know the specific MacBook you have. Here's some generic information on the MagSafe: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MagSafe
