Screen Flickering

History

From what I have determined through testing, the screen will flicker (more accurately it appears like an old film). This occurs when the main processor is in use. The flicker goes away when watching a dvd. OS is 10.5.8, same issue occurs with 10.4.11 This board has the known ram slot issue. How can I fix the flickering?

Hi! I'm wondering if this happens in all screen resolutions and color depths? You might try switching to a different resolution just to see. While unlikely the answer (due to the fact you've tried two different operating systems), I have seen machines go into odd screen resolutions when a DVD is played, or when external video is used (I assume to accommodate the limitations or specs of the external image). Also, I always do PMU and PRAM resets on malfunctioning machines, just to rule that out, because funky settings in PRAM can cause any number of problems. Hope that helps.

Try an other Inverterboard that controls the backlighting and so the flickering. Maybe some cables are on wrong position. Check temperature of the CPU with iStat Pro widget. Is there a flickering when you connect a Display to the DVI Port?
