Repair an old book spine? Nov 8 @ 6:43 PM
I like to read, and I also like really old books. Lately I've been visiting garage sales and buying old books to read. What I've noticed though is a lot of these books have spines that are worn down and are barely holding the book together. I've repaired some of them by using librarian's tape, but tTips on replacing a 60W lightbulb? Nov 5 @ 9:58 AM
I have a really old lamp, and I want to put an energy efficient bulb in it. I can't seem to find 60W compact fluorescent bulbs anywhere though. Do they exist? Are there certain types of lamps that I shouldn't use compact fluorescent bulbs on?

Well apparently I am blind, iFixit has a guide for this. http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/MacBo...-Air-Port-Hatch-Assembly/851/1Answer to: How to repair an old Mayan hammock Nov 13 @ 10:34 PM
Weave in a new string to replace the section that has snapped and then use a sheet bend to tie in the new string to broken one. I chose a sheet bend knot because it is made to combine two different ropes and would hold well even if there are severe differences in string thickness.Answer to: An alternative to a dental pick? Would a sewing needle cut it? I haven't tried, but they tend to be quite rigid if you get a large one.Answer to: Can I replace my optical drive with anything cool? Nov 3 @ 4:35 PM

This is such a long step, but well detailed. Nice job.
As for the board, without de-soldering it there is sadly nothing you can do, as far as I know.

No there isn't. Which is quite sad, that is such an awesome feature normally.

Also, as a heads up, iFixit has a relatively easy to use tool to identify your iPod, found at http://www.ifixit.com/Info/ID-your-iPod.
Re: Reedrj Aug 20 @ 11:51 AM
Umm, I'm not entirely sure what you mean, but I think you want to download and install iTunes and then plug in the iPod. Just follow the instructions to reset the iPod and you will be set.
iTunes download: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Cable to plug in an iPod: http://www.ifixit.com/iPod-Parts/iPod-USB-Cable/IF193-011
Also as a heads up, in the future a more descriptive title on your post will get you a faster response. Something like "How do I reset my iPod" would have been a good choice.
Re: my 5th gen is having the wierdest problem Aug 19 @ 11:16 AM
I'd make the assumption that the hard drive has died, especially since iTunes is not recognizing the iPod.
If you want to look at what would be required to replace the hard drive, you can look at our guide http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/iPod-5th-Generation-Video-Hard-Drive/607/1
Sadly though, I don't think we sell the hard drive you'd need.
Re: Can this be rescued??? Aug 7 @ 3:34 PM
I'm not entirely sure as I've never messed around with this board, but iFixit does sell the logic board you would want http://www.ifixit.com/iBook-Parts/iBook-G3-14-Inch-600-MHz-Logic-Board/IF151-020
From the picture though it's hard to tell what has happened to the power connection. I imagine that's the only place where power enters the board, I don't know for certain though, sorry.

The iPod classic still doesn't have an SSD, for reference.
