white screen problem on boot

History

I own an apple macbook air model number a1237 that has nothing but a blank white screen on boot after the startup sound. I have tried two different screens and lvds cables. it works great on an external monitor thought. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Cody

Hook it up to an external monitor to check the GPU and logic board.

ill have to test that when i get done with class today. if it were to work on an external monitor, any thoughts on what could be wrong with it?

Hi

I have the same problem as Cody. My MBA 1.6Ghz works fine, except for a constant white screen. I know this since I have connected it to my TV. Every function works fine, except showing it on the display.

This leads me to the conclusion that either:

- the lcd is broken

- that the lcd cable (dont remember the name) is broken

- or both the above is broken

What do you think is broken?

Did anyone manage to resolve this or is it logic board time? I have the same symptoms - white internal screen, but otherwise fully booting and running...

I am having the same problem, my MBA A1237 works correctly with an external display but I get a white screen on the LCD. Not sure if I need to replace the LCD video cable and/or the LCD.

Did anyone figure out what this issue is?

The accepted answer is really not usefull, i cannot mod it down.

A defect on the LCD seems acceptable, but a Graphics card issue is also possible.

I had a similar issue with an old iBook G4: internal screen white, external fine. I replaced the screen with a tested good one, same issue.

I have not seen an Apple acknowledged issue either.

The LVDS is causing the issue and needs to be replaced by a professional certified Apple Technician with appropriate device.

Update

1- The connector between the logic-board and the CABLE that comes from display is loose.

2- Other possibilities?
