Try the solution below if the Xbox won't recognize the disc:

  1. Wipe the disc with a soft and clean, slightly damp cloth to remove dust particles.
    • Insert the disc into the Xbox.
  2. Try the disc on another Xbox. If the disc doesn't work, then the disc is the problem. If it works on another Xbox and not yours, then your console has an issue.

Try the solution below if the Xbox won't recognize the disc:

Change the console's power mode and perform a hard reset

  1. Press the controller's Xbox button.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Profile & System > Settings > General > Power Mode & Start-Up.
  4. Under Power Mode, select Energy-Saving.
  5. Hold the Xbox button on your console for 10 seconds until it has shut down.
  6. Power on your Xbox Series X and try the disc again.

Try the solution below if a disc is stuck in the disc drive and won't come out:

  1. Restart the Xbox console. Press the eject button next to the disc slot.
  2. Use the controller to open the guide. Select Home, highlight the inserted disc, and press the X button to eject the disc.
    • If your Xbox freezes, hold the power button on the console until it turns off. Restart it and then press the eject button.

If the above solutions don’t work, use the paper clip method.

  1. Unplug all power cords and cables from the Xbox console.
  2. Straighten a large paper clip.
    • The clip must be at least 2 inches (5 cm) long. A small paper clip will not work.
  3. Insert the paper clip into the eject hole on the bottom of the console. Look along the edge of the round stand around the disc drive.
  4. As the paper clip is pushed into the hole, the disc will slightly pop out. Pull the disc out manually with a lint-free cloth.
