Damaged Hinges
The folding hinges on the V-Moda M-80s can cause noise or debris build up.
Solutions could be:
- Tighten the screws in the hinge with a precision screwdriver to reduce movement and creaking.
- Clean the hinge joints with a soft brush or compressed air to remove debris.
- If irreversible damage persists, remove hinges and replaced with new ones.
Damaged Speaker Driver
Distorted, weak, or inconsistent audio with the Volta M 80s caused by internal speaker driver issues.
Solutions could be:
- Lightly tap the air cup while audio is playing to check for loose driver components.
- Adjust the cable connection to determine if sound cuts in or out from the driver.
- Use compressed air to blow out any debris near the driver assembly.
- Remove and replace speaker drivers if other methods prove unsuccessful.
Damaged Ear Pads
The audio may be affected if the ear pads limit the proper positioning
- Readjust the v-Moda Crossfade M-80 on your head to see if it is not properly positioned.
- Replace the ear pads to reduce the muffling sound.
Damaged Headband Cover
The headband cover is a STEEL-FLEX headband which can cause muffled audio if there is too much tension
- Using both hands bend the headband slightly outward.
- Bend headband until you find a balance between comfort and seal.
Motherboard Failure
The motherboard does not create muffled audio.
