SteelSeries Rival 3 Wireless General Troubleshooting

When you're trying to scroll on your mouse and it does not move. Follow these steps to get your scroll wheel to scroll.

• Turn off the mouse.
• Use compressed air to blow around the scroll wheel.
• Gently rotate the wheel while blowing air to dislodge debris.
• Test the wheel after cleaning.

• Test the mouse on another computer to confirm the issue.
• Remove the mouse skates, unscrew the four screws to access scroll wheel.
• Clean the scroll wheel
• Reassemble the mouse.
• If the problem persists, contact SteelSeries for support.
• Check warranty status and request a replacement if eligible.

• If your SteelSeries Rival 3 Wireless won’t scroll and the scroll wheel sensor (encoder) is faulty, open the mouse and check if the scroll encoder is loose, dirty, or misaligned near the wheel assembly.
• Clean the scroll encoder using compressed air or a small amount of electrical contact cleaner and spin the wheel repeatedly to see if that restores smooth scrolling.
• If cleaning doesn’t fix it and the encoder is worn out or damaged, desolder the old scroll encoder and replace it with a compatible one, or replace the mouse if repair isn’t worth it.

When you press and hold the CPI button, Bluetooth does not appear on PC screen. Follow these steps to get your mouse connected.

• Check the battery level in SteelSeries GG software.
• Replace the AAA batteries with fresh ones if power is low.
• Restart the mouse after replacing batteries to ensure proper reset.

Use these steps to reduce wireless interference between the mouse and USB receiver.

• Plug the USB receiver into a front USB port or use a USB extension cable.
• Keep the receiver within a few feet of the mouse.
• Avoid placing it behind metal objects or under a desk.

• Remove the batteries and open the mouse and inspect/clean the PCB with 90%+ isopropyl alcohol to confirm whether it’s corrosion/connection-related or true board damage.
•  Repair the specific fault by reflowing cracked solder joints or replacing the bad part (switch/encoder/connector) if you have soldering tools.
• If the PCB is cracked, traces are burned/lifted, or repair isn’t practical, replace the entire motherboard/PCB with a compatible Rival 3 Wireless board (or replace the mouse).

When you're trying to track your mouse and it does not detect on screen. Follow these steps to track your mouse.

• Turn off the mouse
• Flip it over and inspect the optical sensor for dust, lint, or debris.
• Use compressed air to gently remove particles.
• If needed, lightly wipe the area with a microfiber cloth.
• Turn the mouse back on and test tracking performance.

• Check the battery level in SteelSeries GG software.
• Replace the AAA batteries with fresh ones if power is low.
• Restart the mouse after replacing batteries to ensure proper reset.

• Open the mouse and check the circuit board for any visible damage like burn marks, cracks, or loose connections that could be affecting the sensor.
• If you see a loose solder joint or damaged small component near the sensor, try carefully re-soldering or replacing that specific part if you have the tools and experience.
• If the board itself is cracked or badly damaged and repair isn’t realistic, replace the entire PCB or just replace the mouse altogether.
