Check Volume Settings

  • There are a multitude of reasons the sound could be altered or completely lost from your ThinkPad. Before assuming the problem is severe, ensure your volume is properly set by clicking the audio icon in the bottom right-hand corner. Drag the bar to the righthand side to increase the volume.

Check Audio Output Settings

  • Right-click the speaker icon in the system tray and select Playback devices. Ensure your desired output device is set as default.

Run Windows Troubleshooter

  • Open Settings via the Start menu. Go to Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters. Select Playing Audio and run the troubleshooter.
