Dust and debris can block the device's air vents, trapping heat inside. Check the air vents along the sides, and bottoms of your device.  Use compressed air to remove dust or lint buildup. Always place the device on a hard and level surface to allow for proper air flow.

HP ProBook 455 G7 Fan Replacement

If the cooling fan is dirty or covered by an object, it can't release heat properly. Make sure nothing is covering the area, such as cloth, paper, or other materials. Keep the back and the sides of the device clear to allow airflow. If the fan itself is clogged with dust, open the back cover and clean it with compressed air, or a soft fluffy brush. Check that the fan spins freely when the device is on. If it's noisy, or slow, or not moving at all, it may need to be replaced.

Thermal paste can prevent heat from transferring properly between the CPU and the heatsink. Remove the heatsink, clean off the old thermal paste with isopropyl alcohol, and apply a small amount of new paste before reattaching. Only attempt this if you’re comfortable working with internal components.

Running too many background processors can increase CPU load and heat output. Can open task manager to check for high CPU usage. End unnecessary tasks and disable non-essential startup programs to reduce processor strain and heat generation.

High ambient temperatures make it harder for your device to stay cool. Use your device in a cool, well-ventilated space away from direct sunlight. Keep at least a few inches of space around the vents. For heavy use, consider using a cooling pad to help regulate temperature.
