GameSir Tarantula Pro Stick Drift

GameSir Tarantula Pro Stick Drift

If the Joystick on your controller is pulling to a particular direction without user input, you're experiencing stick drift. This page offers some possible causes and solutions to fix the problem.

Causes

1

The Tarantula Pro has analog stick housing on the inside of the controller’s shell that contains all its inner components that measure the movement of the joystick. After some time where the controller is not being used, dust will start to build up on the inside of the controller which can cause unregistered movements from the joystick as well as unresponsiveness. If the joystick is unresponsive or contains drift, remove the joystick from the controller in order to check for dust. Then use compressed air in order to clear out any dust particles lying in the joystick housing. For more information, click here: Joystick Replacement Guide.

2

Liquid damage may cause the inner electronic components of the stick module to oxidize, causing them to malfunction. To remove the oxide, remove the joystick housing and expose the electrical components using this guide. Then thoroughly clean the electrical components using a non-conductive cleaner such as isopropyl alcohol.

3

The joysticks found on the Tarantula Pro could potentially begin experiencing drift after prolonged usage of the controller. The mechanism of the joysticks will begin to wear down and malfunction with time. In order to resolve this problems, you could:

  • Replace the joystick mechanism
  • Alter the controller deadzone

The deadzone is a small area within the joystick’s operation area where movement is not registered. Seek the settings of your console/gaming system of choice, and alter the range of the deadzone to encapsulate the range of the drift. For more information on altering the deadzone and other common issues, check out the GameSir Tarantula Pro FAQ
