Frequent Paper Jams
The paper appears to become jammed more frequently than normal
Shredding Gears Need Lubrication
If your AmazonBasics appears to jam more frequently than it should under normal use, the shredding gears may need to be lubricated. Try applying lubrication to the shredding gears by either applying directly to the blades or by shredding a sheet of paper with oil on it.
Frequent Overheating
The AmazonBasics overheats more frequently than normal
Shredding Gears Need Lubrication
If your AmazonBasics appears to overheat more frequently than it should under normal use, the shredding gears may need to be lubricated. Try applying lubrication to the shredding gears by either applying directly to the blades or by shredding a sheet of paper with oil on it.
Shredder Gears Do Not Move
The motor audibly appears to be working, yet the shredding gears don't move
Stripped Drive Gears
If the motor is functional but the shredding gears won't move, the drive gears may have stripped. Follow this guide here to replace them.
Burnt-Out Motor
If the motor sounds to be struggling and will not drive the shredding gears, the internals of the motor may have burnt out. Follow this guide here detailing the motor replacement process
AmazonBasics is Unresponsive
When properly plugged in, the AmazonBasics has no functionality
On/Off Switch Broken
The on/off switch on top of the AmazonBasics may be broken, and would need to be either repaired or replaced. Both of these processes can be found in the repair guide here.
Power Cord Damaged
If the AmazonBasics has no functionality when plugged in, the power cord may need to be replaced. The repair guide here provides information on how to replace it safely.
