If your Garmin bicycle computer won't power on and doesn't seem to be receiving any power from the outlet, use the following solutions to get it powered on and get back on the road.

Causes

1

The Garmin Edge 530 can be charged via the wall outlet or a USB port. To ensure that power is getting to the device, check that the outlet or USB port that's supplying power is functional. You can plug a different device into the outlet or port to check that power is flowing.

Next, check the charging cable for any kinks or abrasions. If you can, plug a different device with the same port into the cable and see if that device seems to be receiving power. You can also try a different cable to see if that helps. Once you've confirmed that all the components of your charging setup are functional (outlet, power brick, cable), leave the device plugged in for 15 minutes. If there's still no life in the device, move on to the next solution.

2

If the Garmin Edge battery is functioning properly but the device will not charge, the issue may be with the device itself. If the issue is not resolved with a functioning charger, it is likely that the issue is caused by a faulty or broken charging port. If the charging port is broken, follow the instructions found on the Garmin Edge 530 Charging Port Replacement to replace it.

3

If the Garmin Edge will not turn on despite being connected to a functional charging device, the issue may be found in the battery. The Garmin Edge 530 uses a built-in lithium ion battery. For further information on replacing this part view the Garmin Edge 530 Battery Replacement page.
