My Problem

My laptop was filling up, at the same time I was tired of the slow access after working with some work laptops with SSDs. So I decided to get an SSD (once the price dropped) for the OS and the old drive for music, videos, pics that take up so much space.

My Fix

Fairly well, just about the entire thing (following iFixit's instructions) were as described, the only issue I had was that the screws at the 'opening' of the drive (i.e. where the drive interfaced with the side of the laptop) were slightly blocked by the plastic insert at the end of the drive adapter.

My Advice

There was a plastic insert in the drive adapter that interfered with the screw heads, after some struggle I had to use another tool to push the plastic back as I inserted the screw in order to get it to drive straight. Also, there should be recommendations on drive height using this adapter and notes on the usual drive heights in those laptops, the one I have is probably too tall (original 500gb drive) but it all closes and works so...
