My Problem
We had a situation where an iPhone 5 was used so often to take the epic pictures of race events (for Falken Tire), that the lock button and flasher no longer functioned properly. Perhaps too many amazing pictures of cars drifting in circles brought the phone to its knees. In addition, the abusive apple "not so genius" bar wanted to charge $200 for the repair. The part was $25, my labor was $10 (hourly wage based at work) Even with a FULL toolkit purchase, we were still ahead by over $100.
My Fix
The repair is simple. Not too much nitty gritty here. It can be time consuming, especially with big fingers, but patience and a large enough workspace to STAGE YOUR PARTS per step used in the teardown process.
My Advice
Sort your parts per step. Piles, one for each step of the teardown. Start on the left, progress toward the right. When rebuilding, start on the right, work towards the left. Just like typing and deleting. You should have nothing left over if you deleted properly. :-)
