My Problem
I use my Wii for speedrunning some of my favorite games. The wii developed an issue where it would crash with disc read errors.
No amount of cleaning the discs or the disc drive's laser had any effect. Unfortunately the disc drive seemed to be the issue and needed to be replaced.
My Fix
The repair went great, and the instructions were easy to follow.
It even reads dual layered discs now! I hadn't been able to play games that were on dual layered discs for over 10 years!
My Advice
Be sure to set your system clock after you turn the console back on! Removing the battery will reset the system clock.
