My All-Good Very-Awesome Macbook Pro Battery Replacement Story
A customer complained that his battery was no longer charging or supplying battery power. Once I was able to get his laptop, I did a quick check on the battery (Control-Click the battery icon) and determined that the system was advising for an immediate replacement. That's when I thought of iFixit. I looked up the battery in the parts store, verified I had the correct model, and purchased the battery with the optional repair kit. From there, it was just a waiting game.
Since I ordered the optional repair kit, I knew I would have a fresh supply of tools and supplies to facilitate the repair. So many times I have found that my tools were either worn out or missing, so this time, I decided that wasn't going to happen to me. After opening the package, I found my supplies in the repair kit in excellent condition, and I found the battery expertly packaged in it's form-fitting molded casing. As usual, iFixit did a great job of taking care of me, and by extension, my customer. I am always happy about that!
I went to work following the instructions from the iFixit web site for this repair. I have previously followed the same instructions on another repair, but I can't rely on my memory, so I used the expert advice in the instructions as a guide.
I found the repair guide easy to follow and in no time the new battery was in place and working perfectly. I charged it for the next couple of hours to 100% and then sealed up the laptop again.
Always follow the repair guide... even if you have it memorized.
