My Problem

Replaced a failing battery to give the phone away to my friend’s father in Argentina

My Fix

The video was most helpful. As I was removing the screws to the front panel assembly cable bracket, the screwdriver flipped out of my hand into my lap and the 1.7mm screw that I was removing disappeared. I searched each side of the phone and scoured my workspace for about an hour when I decided to proceed with the replacement.

The adhesive strips quickly ripped and I resorted to using a heat gun on low to heat the adhesive & remove the old battery (thanks to other’s suggestions).

Finally as I was putting the phone back together, I found the 1.7mm screw magnetized to the inside of the home button. VICTORY!! The phone went back together and worked with the new battery.

My Advice

Hold tight to the tools and work in an area where anything dropped can be easily found.
