My Problem
My wife cracked the screen on her first iPhone. We'd since gotten her one with more storage, but I decided to try to repair the cracked one.
My Fix
The repair went smooth and appeared to have no issues until we tried calling someone. The earpiece speaker technically worked, but had a bad crackling sound. I assumed I hadn't fully seated one of the cables correctly, so I opened it back up and reattached all of the cables a few times with no improvement. After replacing the speaker on the new screen with the one from the old screen, everything worked fine.
My Advice
Keep the old screen until you're sure everything works correctly - you may need to cannibalize it for parts if anything goes wrong with the installation.
