My Problem

After approx. 600 cycles, diagnostics on the battery indicated one of the cells was bad, generating a service battery notification. Apple Store wanted $200+ to basically replace the top case assembly and battery, plus wanted to keep my work MBP for a week.

My Fix

Repair went exactly per the guide, no problems at all.

My Advice

Take your time. Don't try to force anything. ALWAYS label parts and take photos on removal. Be judicious with the acetone in removing the battery adhesive, no need to flood it. Also no need to wait the 2-3 minutes per the guide; 30 sec to a minute is enough. Photo in place or label aircard antennas prior to disconnect to ensure you reinstall to the correct contact heads.
