My Problem
The digitizer was completely shattered after a drop on a tile floor. No pieces of the front glass were bigger than a fingernail, making removal of the original quite a challenge.
My Fix
The instructional video at iFixIt was indispensable. Be patient to allow enough time for the heating pad to soften the adhesive and it worked well. My Zagg screen protector did a good job holding the millions of glass shards together.
My Advice
Take your time. Use a butter knife blade angled upwards (iPad on its back) to avoid the LCD. This way you can work from the inside out in areas where the picks are not doing the job from the outside in.
