My Problem

I've had my phone for 4(?) years now, and the battery wouldn't last long, and it would tweak out and the touch screen wouldn't work properly when it was charging.

My Fix

I've had my phone for 4(?) years now, and the battery wouldn't last long, and it would tweak out and the touch screen wouldn't work properly when it was charging. Everything was easy and as described in the video tutorial (except my iPhone was lacking the touchID bracket...) until I reached the adhesive removal part. It was HARD. Both strips ripped after I had only managed to unstick a few millimeters, but being a broke grad student, I didn't want to admit defeat! I pried up the battery with the tools and managed to grab the tip of the adhesive strip, stretched it out, and finally got it off. I ended up bending the old battery in the process which REALLY sketched me out, but I got it out. Putting everything back was easy, but clipping in the display cables was tricky and required a lot of patience. There was a lot more resistance popping the two halves back together than I expected, but I guess I didn't damage anything!

My Advice

I learned a lot about the inside of my phone, and I'm glad I did it myself and saved some money, even though I went through some panic trying to get the adhesive off
