My Problem

Apparently "the teenager" who got a new MacBook pro for graduation spilled some water (maybe beer) on the keyboard. Knowing said teenager is susceptible to accidents (countless broken iPhone screens) we had purchased AppleCare. One thing AppleCare doesn't cover is Water damage :( They wanted $855 to replace battery and SSD ! overly punitive in my opinion !

My Fix

it's not real hard, follow the steps. Take your time with the glue. Make sure you line up the new battery perfectly before the new glue/tape sticks.

My Advice

I heated up the 'under' side of the case below the battery to help soften up the glue as well. you can do this without the iOpener took kit, but I think it was worth the $20--decent tools, nice plastic tray to keep screws separated, and the iOpener/tools can be used when I need to fix 'the teenagers' next F*&% up! Then call Apple and get your AppleCare prorated money returned to you since you just voided your warranty.
