20 minutes

Very easy

My Problem

At 6 years old, my battery life was dwindling. My local Mac Genius bar said, sorry it's too old for us to touch. yet the machine still works perfectly and does everything that I ask of it. It's heavy but it plays DVDs, why replace it?

My Fix

The new battery and the 3-point screwdriver from iFixit were perfect. the base back came off in 2 minutes with a standard small size 0 phillips screwdriver. It was a little annoying to have to spend 7.00 on the special tri-tipped driver to undo the three screws which held the battery in place, but the driver worked perfectly. I hard to be careful and move slowly with the batteries connecting wire and plug—but it was very easy. The whole thing went back together in 5 minutes.

My Advice

I held my breath when it started back up but it worked like a charm and now my battery life is back from 2 hours to 4 hours. I am very happy with the repair. Total cost 112.00. The local "apple authorized repair shop" wanted 240.00 for the job.
