My Problem
I got the dreaded "No boot device detected" error message.
My Fix
The repair went smoothly. Through the process of elimination I was able to determine that the logic board and the hard drive were not defective. That left the only thing that the two used to communicate with each other - the cable! I found the cable on ifixit and it arrived in a couple of days. The install was easy and my MacBook was up and running in no time.
My Advice
No earth chattering revelations. Just take your time.
