My Problem

MagSafe Adapter Hot When Charging Battery, Running On Power Adapter 100% Charge Indicated Until MacBook Shuts Off From Low Battery, Difficult Getting Battery To Charge.

My Fix

Once I ordered the parts from iFixit and received them, along with an $8 minibit screwdriver set from harbor freight, I enlisted the help of my son-in-law, as I have a numb left hand from neuropathy, and we did the job without a hitch following the iFixit instructions.

My Advice

Don't bother with the Apple Store Genius Bar Techs, Geniuses they aren't! I was sold a new power adapter, he did an SMC Reset, and "Cleaned" the contacts on the MagSafe Board pronouncing it cured. A month later the new power adapter was fried, and I was back where I started. Don't hesitate to get a new MagSafe Board, and Power Adapter from iFixit so you can be your own Genius and fix it right the first time. Face it! Once an electrical connection has been overheated there is no Mickey Mouse Repair that will work. A Genius Should Know That!
