My Problem

Digitizer shattered around the ribbon cable.

Like the title says "easy does it". The reason why the digitizer shattered around the ribbon cable connection is because I was not careful when pulling on the suction cup. Instead of applying the pressure equally, I happened to pulled on the side of the display where the ribbon cables are at. Resulting in a sudden release of the latches on one side. This force pulled on the ribbon cables really hard and caused the damage. I have dissemble Iphones many many times. But this time I was rushed and a bit impatient. So the inevitable happened....

My Fix

It took me 10 min (including disassemble the front camera unit from the old display over to the new one) This shouldn't take you more than 20 min giving that you still have to transfer the front camera assembly over from he old display.

My Advice

Take your time and dont rush. Apply force equally. Once the screen starts to lift and there is a gap between the screen and the housing. The best way is not to pull it harder to separate it but rather use a plastic spudger and careful pry it open. Be mindful of the home button ribbon cable. This way you would have more control and less expensive accident.
