How to replace the battery in your iPhone 5s

30 minutes - 1 hour

Moderate

My Problem

My battery was discharging to about 20% before I even went to lunch during the day. It was practically useless without being able to charge it every 4 or 5 hours.

My Fix

The repair went great. I went very slow and marked screws as they were removed so I knew which went back to those spots. The worst part of the whole process was pulling the adhesive out from under the battery. It kept breaking as I was pulling it. If you pull slow, it seems to go better, but be prepared to have to fight with it. Also, plugging in the Touch ID cable was a bit of a catch.

My Advice

Just going slow pulling out the adhesive is the best advice. I had to use the tools to pry the battery up to keep grabbing the next piece of adhesive tab. Once that was out, the only other issue was getting the touch ID cable back onto it's socket. Just take your time and be patient. And if you need to walk away from it for a bit and come back do it. You can get fatigue working with such small parts.
