My Problem
The battery life of my iPhone 4S was horrible. Since the battery was 3 years old, I decided to replace it.
My Fix
I have a background in electronics repair, so my confidence was very high. Regardless, the walk-through guides were invaluable. The entire replacement took me 10 minutes and was a complete success on the first try.
My Advice
I'm in my sixties, so having good lighting was imperative. I used a lighted magnifying glass. The only tricky part was the ground clip below the top screw of the battery connector. Use a non-conductive tool to position and keep your fingers off it. Also, be careful while unplugging the old battery from the phone. Go slow and only pry upwards.
