My Problem
One of our households 5S's have lately lost too much batteryjuice. Having tried many other fixes not helping (from battery saving tips to restoring), not being covered by Apple's battery call back and still not nearly satisfied and not always having a charger nearby we had to take action.
My Fix
Ordered both the battery replacement kit, the pro tool kit and a t-shirt for boosting confidence. All came within about a week witch is very quick all the way to Norway.
Followed the youtube guide and the browser guide and it all went mostly well. Tore off the last of the two gluestripes when being a little hasty around the corner of the battery. But managed to get the battery out (it bent though so not usable anymore). Couldn't find anything about how to place the new gluestripes correctly but didn't spend too much time searching for that and just placed it on sense. Managed to tangle up the ends so had to cut away almost half of the stripes but the battery mounted safely.
After completing the rebuild I let it charge to full and turned on the phone. My wife can now confirm a near double in battery life and that should be on par if not even better than when it was new.
My Advice
Got a tips from a fellow iPhone 5 owner who also tried changing battery (not an ifixit battery, who's phone worked but could not be unlocked no more after the battery change) to turn off Find my iPhone before opening up the phone. She got a replacement from Apple and Apple concluded that the fault where related to Find my iPhone locking up without reason (they did not know the battery was changed).
Be careful with the gluestripes, both when removing the old ones so they don't tear, but also the new ones, if they mix up they are impossible to separate again. Learned that the hard way !
