My Problem
The glass was cracked. It was too risky to attempt a glass only replacement, so I decided to place the glass and LCD combination.
My Fix
Upon removing the LCD ribbon cable, I discovered the black flip tabs on the board mounted connector. Flip those things vertically before attempting to remove the ribbons. There is a miniature cable connector for the ribbon cable the leads to the keyboard contacts. Similarly, flip the black tab vertically before removing the ribbon cable.
The LCD cracked while removing the glass and LCD assembly. I anticipated this. I would never recommend attempting to remove the glass only. Spend an extra $60 for the glass and LCD combination.
My Advice
Place the assembly glass down on a hot plate or cookie sheet lined with aluminum foil. Heat the Surface LCD screen and glass assembly to about 200 degrees fahrenheit in an oven to soften the glue which bonds the glass to the black frame. Use the plastic pry bar to locally separate the glass from the supportive black frame followed by a plastic card to slide through the glued region.
The Windows Surface RT uses T3 and T4 screws.
