My Problem

I had a horrible left fan failure -- grinding, seizing, noises like the apocalypse. I ordered a new one from iFixit and, the next day, the fan was fine! Silent. Well-behaved. But, a few days later, a small hint, a whisper, a dirty hum came again from the fan. It's miracle cure is only temporary, apparently. Because the laptop is in use 10-12 hours a day and I can't afford downtime, I am waiting for the fan to exhibit the Return of the Grinding before swapping it out.

My Fix

Stay tuned. Give the quality of the instructions, I don't anticipate any problems. I've used the site to upgrade the internal drive on other laptops.

My Advice

The delivery time is fast and the instructions are good. If you've got decent static control, there's no reason not to do it yourself.
