My Problem

dead battery on an old ipod.

My Fix

easy peasy lemon squeezy.

My Advice

take your time, go slow, follow the instructions. piece of cake.

My Problem

Iphone 4 would not charge and found the connector damaged

My Fix

Successful repair but Very tedious, could not have done it with out the video from I fix it.

My Advice

Take your time doing the repair

My Problem

The battery on my iPod mini finally died. I'm not sure how old it is - it's something I "inherited" from my son.

My Fix

Repair went well - good instructions

My Advice

The only problem I ran into was that the case was just slightly dinged on one end - barely noticeable, but enough to keep the circuit board from sliding out. Once I was able to straighten that out with a pair of needle-nose pliers, things went great.

My Problem

I had bought my ipod mini at a goodwill almost a year ago and had been using it fairly consistently since then. However, it's an incredibly old device and the battery ended up dying on me. I could maybe go 30 minutes to an hour without having to charge it which made it semi-unusable. It wasn't fun to deal with at all.

My Fix

I followed the guide step by step and took my time and was patient with it. Made sure to put the screws in places where they wouldn't disappear or fall into the carpet and really just focused on doing it right.

The repair went perfectly. I am completely satisfied with how it went.

My Advice

Take your time, be patient. Do it in an area with good lighting and make sure you keep your screws somewhere safe.

My Problem

My wife's iPod mini had a faulty battery that would not charge.

My Fix

I bought the mini repair kit which came with a battery and followed the directions on the website. easy peezy.

My Advice

using the screwdriver to loosen the white plastic ends will damage them. No getting around it.

My Problem

Battery failed

My Fix

Repair went smooth. My second battery for this old Ipod.

My son Got it used from grandma in 2006. Got stolen from his car and found by police. Replaced battery in 2010, went smooth. My wife uses it for massage practice. Replaced battery this time, no problems, kept all her music in-tacked.

My Advice

Don't be afraid. You'll be proud of yourself for saving 100.00 or even 200.00 bucks

I Recommend repairing the old I pods. They're really well made, and IFIXIT has all the parts and instructions.

My Problem

My son (age 7) really loves music, so I decided to get him an mp3 player. I wanted something without a touchscreen that was durable and could only really be used for music and audiobooks. The old iPod Mini was a perfect match to these requirements. I found one on eBay for 10 bucks. It had a scuffed case and a bad battery, but otherwise in working order. iFixit to the rescue with the battery kit!

My Fix

The repair went pretty much as described in the iFixit tutorial. The iPod casing was already scuffed and scratched, so I didn't feel the need to be /quite/ as careful removing the top and bottom panels as I ought to have been. It took less than 10 minutes to perform the swap.

My Advice

IIRC, the tutorial shows a small screwdriver being used to remove the top and bottom plastic panels. If I did this again, I would use something thinner. The guide mentions this, but I will also stress that it is /very/ easy to damage the plastic, as well as the aluminum housing.

Also, make sure the internals are clean when you reinsert them into the housing! I ended up with a tiny stray hair stuck across the screen, which I didn't notice until all was reassembled.

My Problem

I love this iPod Mini...used it for a long time...they're pretty indestructible. Back when the only answer to replace the battery was to send it to apple for $$$. I just stored it away...as there were so many ways to listen to music.

Flash forward to finding it in my bottom dresser drawer and remembering a friend telling me about IFIXIT....ordered a new battery and now love having this around again!!!

My Fix

The instructions on IFIXIT are PERFECT!!!

My particular iPod had a stripped screw which must have been from the factory because it was new and I was the only owner. Anyhow it wouldn't move for anything. Decided to take out my rotary tool with small disk cutting wheel and put on the magnifying glasses...and created a slot across the screw head to accept a flat head screwdriver (the one in the kit)...don't have caffeine before doing this...like I did :O. Voila! unscrewed it and the rest went off without a hitch.

My Advice

The battery is a slightly tighter fit, but works perfectly.

I was impressed by the speed in which IFIXIT shipped this...same day...got to the east coast very fast. Fix kit is conceived, laid out and presented PERFECTLY. Would order again in a second.

My Problem

I had to replace the iPod Mini Battery

My Fix

It was good. One of the screws accidentally got stripped so I needed a few more screwdrivers to get the screw out.

The battery is slightly bigger than the original so putting it back together is a bit difficult and a tight fit. It doesn't have the same cut out as the original so it will be hard shoving everything back in the case. Be careful not to pinch the wires from the battery.

My Advice

Gentle on the screws! They can be stripped easily!

My Problem

Dead battery

My Fix

I received my battery replacement kit , in record time , ( just a few days, in the US mail 5.00) once I saw the video, and received the correct screwdriver (00) I had the I pod fixed in 15 minutes ! Thank you , better than expected results ! I am telling everyone who will listen , about your great company ! And service , oh ! The identity page really helped ! Yours truly Duncan

My Advice

Watch the video, and just know ! You CAN do this !
