Stories

My Problem

I was trying to take the back off because it was cracked. I did not have the proper tools and I just made it worse.

My Fix

This was so easy to repair after I received the tools and parts from IFIXIT!

My Advice

Don't brake your son's phone!

My Problem

both were broken

My Fix

smoothly, phone is back in business.

My Advice

don't destroy the plastic tabs or warranty is voided

My Problem

One little drop and the back glass is shattered. Oh well, but over time, the battery starts getting hotter and hotter. Then it decides to no longer hold a charge for more than an hour or two. 75% charge to dead in seconds flat.

My Fix

For all the hype about having to take the phone to an Apple store to get it fixed....HOGWASH. Easy repair in less than 15 minutes and I have what looks like and acts like a new phone. So simple that anyone could do it.

My Advice

When you remove the two little screws from inside the phone, keep track of them! Because one is 0.2 mm longer than the other, keep them separate so you know which is the longer one.

My Problem

One phone needed battery another phone needed back panel.

My Fix

Great

My Advice

When in doubt watch ifixit video

My Problem

The hard drive in my mac was only 120g. For some reason, I thought that would be adequate when I bought my mac... It's really not! After years of backing up and deleting my files so I could use my mac, I thought, there must be a solution!

My Fix

Really easy to repair. I was a little nervous to open up my laptop and damage anything. But with the guide, the repair was easy as 1 2 3!

I also took the hard drive out of mine and my partners old macs and, with the hard drive enclosure, now have access to all my old data.

My Advice

Use a program like carbon copy to copy your old hard drive to the new one.

If there is enough space on your new hard drive; copy any data over from old hard drives, delete the old drives, and use them as external hard drives!

My Problem

Through a series of unfortunate events my phone's rear cover was detaching from the body (some spaz had kicked it out of my hand!). Apparently one of the plastic clips that holds the screen in place had cracked off.

My Fix

The repair was considerably easy. Since the original cover had been broken it was easy to remove. Just as the ifixit instructions indicated remove screws, slide down no brainer.

My Advice

It was such a straight froward process, but don't take a simple project for granted, you could easily break off the clips sending in the new part crooked. Once I slid the cover down I flipped the whole thing over so that I wouldn't have to worry about angeling wrong. Once the new cover is in place it is a bit snug so alight carefully, and firmly however, patiently push. Also, don't forget to remove the protective stickers.

My Problem

Dropped my iphone. Cracked the back panel.

My Fix

Very simple to repair but what they don't tell you is critical.

My Advice

There is a clear plastic coating on the inside of the panel - on the mirrored back and the camera lens. Peel it off or the back panel won't fit. Why don't they just tell you this? Duh!

My Problem

My phone fell and the rear panel broke so I had to change it.

My Fix

It was pretty smooth. It took less than 5 minutes.

My Advice

Just follow the guide this guys provide.

My Problem

Shattered my 4S rear panel

My Fix

Took literally 3 minutes to replace.

My Advice

Remove the tiny plastic cover on the inside of the camera lens.

My Problem

I had a cracked back on my iPhone 4S, and I wanted to fix it.

My Fix

It went very smoothly, as expected.

My Advice

Always follow the repair guide. To push the back up, you might have to apply more pressure than you think is safe, and that's okay. Plus, watch out for any unglued camer lenses.
