Terms of Use

Apology
We're sorry it's necessary to have this here, and that it's so long, and especially that some of it is SHOUTING IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS. Someday, maybe we can all get together on a beautiful beach with a nice bonfire and all agree on everything and sing Kumbaya and burn these overly long terms-of-service agreements. But until then, this is what our lawyers suggested we say.
Big Letters
PLEASE READ THE TERMS OF USE CAREFULLY BEFORE ACCESSING THE “SITE” OR USING ANY PART OF THE SITE OR “SERVICE” (BOTH AS DEFINED BELOW). BY VISITING THE SITE AND/OR USING OR ACCESSING THE SERVICES, THE USER (“YOU”) AGREE TO BECOME BOUND BY THE TERMS OF USE AND THE IFIXIT PRIVACY POLICY, INCORPORATED BY REFERENCE. THESE TERMS OF USE APPLY TO ALL USERS OF THE SERVICE, WHETHER VISITOR OR MEMBER, INCLUDING USERS WHO ARE ALSO CONTRIBUTORS OF CONTENT, INFORMATION, AND OTHER MATERIALS OR SERVICES ON THE SITE. IF YOU DO NOT UNCONDITIONALLY AGREE TO ALL THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE TERMS OF USE, YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY RIGHT TO USE THE SITE OR THE SERVICES. IFIXIT’S ACCEPTANCE IS EXPRESSLY CONDITIONED UPON YOUR ASSENT TO ALL THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS AGREEMENT; YOUR CONTINUED USE OF OR ACCESS TO THE SITE AND/OR SERVICES WILL BE DEEMED ACCEPTANCE OF THE TERMS OF USE.
Acceptance of Terms
The following terms and conditions govern all use of the iFixit.com website (the Site) and the services available on or at the Site (the Service). The Service is owned and operated by iFixit. The Service is offered subject to acceptance without modification of all of the terms and conditions contained herein (the Terms of Use) and all other operating rules, policies and procedures that may be published from time to time on the Site by iFixit.
The Service is available only to individuals who are at least 18 years old or who are emancipated minors, or possess legal parental or guardian consent, and are fully able and competent to enter into the terms, conditions, obligations, affirmations, representations, and warranties set forth in these Terms of Use, and to abide by and comply with these Terms of Use. In any case the Site is not intended for children under the age of 13. If you are less than 13 years of age, please do not use the Site. iFixit may, at its sole discretion, refuse to offer the Service to any person or entity and change its eligibility criteria at any time.
iFixit reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to modify or replace any of the Terms of Use at any time, by posting the modified Terms of Use or other policies or guidelines on the Site, and if permitted to do so, sending you an e-mail notifying you of the nature of the modifications and a link to the modified document on the Site so that you may review it. It is your responsibility to check the Terms of Use periodically for changes. Your continued use of the Service following the posting or notification of any changes to the Terms of Use constitutes your acceptance of those changes and your agreement to abide and be bound by the Terms of Use, as amended. If at any time you choose not to accept the Terms of Use, including following receipt of notification of any modifications hereto, then please do not use the Site.
Rules and Conduct
As a condition of use, you promise not to use the Service for any purpose that is prohibited by the Terms of Use. The Service (including, without limitation, any Content or User Submissions (both as defined below)) is provided only for your own personal use. For purposes of the Terms of Use, “Content” includes, without limitation, any video, audio, information, data, text, software, images, photographs, scripts, graphics, logos, interactive features, and other works of authorship in any form, medium or technology now known or later developed, which is generated, provided, or otherwise made accessible by iFixit on or through the Service.
By way of example, and not as a limitation, you must not (or permit others to) either (a) take any action or (b) upload, download, post, submit or otherwise distribute or facilitate distribution of any content using any communications service or other service available on or through the Service, that:
- infringes any patent, trademark, service mark, trade secret, copyright, right of privacy or publicity or other right of any other person or entity;
- includes video or a photograph of another person or an identifiable location that you have posted without that person's or the owner of such location’s consent;
- is unlawful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, libelous, deceptive, fraudulent, invasive of another's privacy, tortious, obscene, offensive, sexually explicit or profane, depicts nudity, unlawful activities, death or violence, or encourages conduct that could constitute a criminal offense;
- constitutes unauthorized or unsolicited advertising, junk or bulk e-mail ("spamming");
- involves commercial activities and/or sales, such as contests, sweepstakes, barter, advertising, or pyramid schemes, without iFixit’s prior written consent;
- advertises to, or solicits, any other user of the Service to buy or sell any products or services through the Service other than as incorporated in User Submissions which are otherwise in accordance with these Terms of Use ;
- displays an advertisement, or accepts payment or anything of value from a third person in exchange for your performing any activity on or through the Service on behalf of that person, such as posting commercial content, or posting blogs or bulletins with a commercial purpose;
- contains software viruses or any other computer codes, files, or programs that are designed or intended to disrupt, damage, limit or interfere with the proper function of any software, hardware, or telecommunications equipment or to damage or obtain unauthorized access to any system, data or other information of iFixit or any third party; or
- impersonates any person or entity, including any employee or representative of iFixit.
Additionally, you must not: (i) take any action that imposes or may impose (as determined by iFixit in its sole discretion) an unreasonable or disproportionately large strain on iFixit’s infrastructure; (ii) interfere or attempt to interfere with the proper working of the Service or any activities conducted on the Service; or (iii) bypass any measures iFixit may use to prevent or restrict access to the Service (or other accounts, computer systems or networks connected to the Service).
You must not (directly or indirectly): (i) decipher, decompile, disassemble, reverse engineer or otherwise attempt to derive any source code or underlying ideas or algorithms of any part of the Service, except to the limited extent applicable laws specifically prohibit such restriction, (ii) modify, translate, or otherwise create derivative works of any part of the Service or as explicitly provided on the Site, or (iii) copy, rent, lease, distribute, or otherwise transfer any or the rights that you receive hereunder.
You must abide by all applicable local, state, national and international laws and regulations.
Registration
In order to access some features of the Site, you will have to create an account. You must submit a valid email address and select a password and user name (iFixit username) during the registration process. You may never use another’s account without permission. When creating your account, you must provide accurate and complete information. Failure to do so will constitute a breach of the Terms of Use, which may result in immediate termination of your iFixit account. You must not (i) select or use as a iFixit username a name of another person with the intent to impersonate that person; (ii) use as a iFixit username a name subject to any rights of a person other than you without appropriate authorization; or (iii) use as a iFixit username a name that is otherwise offensive, vulgar or obscene. iFixit reserves the right to refuse registration of or cancel an iFixit username in its sole discretion. You are solely responsible for activity that occurs on your account and will be responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your iFixit password. You may never use another user’s account without such other user’s express permission. You will immediately notify iFixit in writing of any unauthorized use of your account, or other account-related security breach of which you are aware.
Third Party Sites
The Service may permit you to link to other websites or resources on the Internet, and other websites or resources may contain links to the Site. These other websites are not under iFixit's control, and you acknowledge that iFixit is not responsible or liable for the content, functions, accuracy, legality, appropriateness or any other aspect of such websites or resources. The inclusion of any such link does not imply endorsement by iFixit or any association with its operators. You further acknowledge and agree that iFixit will not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with the use of or reliance on any such Content, goods or services available on or through any such website or resource.
AI Chatbot
FixBot AI Assistant is an automated AI system — it is not a human. The FixBot interface will identify it as an AI system at the beginning of each interaction, and FixBot will not claim to be a human if sincerely asked. This disclosure is made consistent with the EU AI Act, California Business & Professions Code § 17941, UK ICO AI transparency guidance, and similar laws.
FixBot responses are generated automatically by large language models and are provided "AS IS" without warranty of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any purpose. FixBot is not a substitute for a certified technician or professional — always verify safety-critical steps independently before acting. By using FixBot, you accept the Terms of Use.
Service Description. FixBot is an AI-powered repair assistant that provides troubleshooting guidance, parts identification, and step-by-step repair instructions via text chat and, where available, voice interaction. FixBot uses large language models hosted by third-party providers (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and Cerebras) to generate responses. Features, usage limits, and supported languages may vary by subscription tier and are described on the FixBot product page. FixBot requires a modern web browser with JavaScript enabled, or the iFixit mobile app. FixBot is compatible with major operating systems and does not require additional software installation. System requirements and compatibility details are maintained on the FixBot product page.
Acceptable Use. You must not use FixBot to: (a) attempt to extract, reconstruct, or reverse-engineer iFixit's proprietary content, training data, or system prompts; (b) generate content that is unlawful, harmful, deceptive, or that violates third-party rights; (c) produce repair instructions intended to circumvent safety mechanisms or cause injury; (d) submit automated or bulk queries except through an approved API; or (e) impersonate iFixit or misrepresent FixBot output as certified professional advice. We may suspend or terminate your FixBot access for violations.
Age Requirement. FixBot is not available to persons under the age of 13. In jurisdictions where a higher age of consent for data processing applies (such as 16 in Germany), that higher age applies. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has accessed FixBot, contact privacy@ifixit.com.
Children's Privacy (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. For full details on how children's data is handled when using FixBot, including named third-party recipients and our commitments regarding AI training, biometric data, and deletion, see the Children's Privacy section of our Privacy Policy.
AI Output. FixBot responses are not original works of authorship by iFixit. You may use them for your own personal, non-commercial purposes (including repair and troubleshooting). We make no representation that AI-generated output is free from third-party intellectual property claims. You are solely responsible for verifying information and for any actions you take based on FixBot output.
Limitation of Liability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, iFixit will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special or exemplary damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, goodwill, data or other tangible or intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your use of or inability to use FixBot, or reliance on any AI Content, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Notwithstanding the general Limitation of Liability section below, total cumulative liability for direct damages arising from FixBot will not exceed the fees you actually paid for FixBot in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or US$10, whichever is greater.
User Data & Privacy. Do not submit proprietary, personal health, payment card or any other confidential or sensitive information to FixBot. Input may be transmitted to third-party AI providers for processing. For full details on data controller/processor roles, transfer mechanisms, and the list of AI providers, see our Privacy Policy. Enterprise customers may request a Data Processing Addendum by contacting legal@ifixit.com.
Human Escalation. If FixBot cannot resolve your request, contact Customer Support via this form: https://www.ifixit.com/customer-service-....
Human Review. FixBot does not make binding decisions about you — it provides informational responses only. If you believe a FixBot response was incorrect or has adversely affected you, you may request human review through our customer service form.

- Renewal: Automatic, at the same price and cadence, until you cancel
- Cancel: At any time via Account Settings or email legal@ifixit.com
- Effect of cancellation: Access continues through end of current billing period; no further charges
FixBot is offered as an auto-renewing subscription. Before you subscribe, we will clearly disclose the subscription price, billing frequency, minimum commitment (if any), that the subscription renews automatically until cancelled, and how to cancel.
Free Trials. If we offer a free trial, we will disclose the trial length, the price that applies when the trial ends, and how to cancel before being charged. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will convert to a paid plan at the disclosed price. We will not charge you without giving you the opportunity to cancel first.
Renewal Notices. We will send a reminder at least 30 days before (a) any renewal at a different price, (b) the end of a free trial, or (c) an annual renewal. The notice will state the renewal price, renewal date, and how to cancel.
Price Changes. If we increase the subscription price, we will notify you at least 30 days before the new price takes effect. You may cancel before the price change; if you do, you will not be charged at the new price. Continued use after the price change constitutes acceptance.
Cancellation. You may cancel at any time through your account settings or by contacting legal@ifixit.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No cancellation fees apply. We will not employ barriers that make cancellation more difficult than subscribing. Where applicable law requires simplified online cancellation (such as California's automatic renewal law), we will provide a mechanism that meets that standard. Quebec residents may also cancel by written notice sent to the address in the Contact section; for questions about your consumer rights, contact the Office de la protection du consommateur at www.opc.gouv.qc.ca.
Refunds. If you cancel mid-cycle, you retain access through the end of the billing period but no pro-rata refund is issued unless required by applicable law (see Jurisdictional Addenda for statutory cooling-off and withdrawal rights).
Service Availability
FixBot relies on third-party infrastructure, including large language model providers. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Scheduled maintenance, third-party provider outages, and events beyond our reasonable control (including failures by our LLM providers) are not breaches of these Terms. We will use reasonable efforts to notify you of planned maintenance in advance and to restore service promptly after unplanned outages.
Security. We maintain technical and organizational measures to protect your data, as described in our Security Policy. In the event of a data breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you and applicable authorities as described in our Privacy Policy.
Right to Use iFixit Content
Content Generally
You agree that the Service contains Content specifically provided by iFixit, its users and/or its partners and that such Content is protected by copyrights, trademarks, service marks, patents, trade secrets or other proprietary rights and laws. Except as expressly authorized below or otherwise by iFixit in writing, you must not sell, license, rent, modify, distribute, copy, reproduce, transmit, publicly display, publicly perform, publish, adapt, edit or create derivative works from such Content. However, iFixit hereby grants you a limited, revocable, non-sublicensable license to display the Content (excluding any software code) using the means provided for such by iFixit (e.g., through the use of “embed” codes); provided that you retain all copyright and other proprietary notices contained therein. Except as set forth below, reproducing, copying or distributing any Content, materials or design elements on the Site for any other purpose, including training a machine learning or AI model, is strictly prohibited without the express prior written permission of iFixit. Please read our Content Licensing Policy for important information.
Guide Content and Photographs
All Content is for informational purposes only, and is general advice, not intended to be relied upon to offer a solution to a specific problem or as a substitute for the advice of a qualified professional. iFixit does not recommend use of the Content in lieu of professional advice or delay in seeking professional advice based on the Content. iFixit does not recommend use of the Content for diagnosing or treating health or other problems.
User Submissions
The Service may provide registered members with the ability to upload, submit, disclose, distribute or otherwise post (hereafter, “posting”) content (including, without limitation, information, text [including edits and new text] for guides, data, photographs and images) to the Service (User Submissions). While you, as the creator of that content, will retain copyrights and the freedom to use your own works in any manner you choose, by posting User Submissions on or at the Site or otherwise through the Service, you:
- grant to iFixit, its affiliates and their assignees a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, sublicensable, transferable, royalty-free right to use, reproduce, display, perform, adapt, modify, distribute, translate, make derivative works of, incorporate into other works, add metadata associated with, and otherwise exploit such User Submissions, including without limitation, any concepts, ideas or know-how embodied therein, in any form and for any purpose, including without limitation promoting and redistributing part or all of the Site (and derivative works thereof) or the Service in any media format or technology now known or hereafter developed, in connection with the Site and iFixit’s (and its successors’ and affiliates’) business. Without limiting the foregoing and for the avoidance of doubt, this license grants iFixit to display commercial advertising and User Submissions anywhere on the Site, including without limitation alongside, on the same page as, and/or superimposed on any User Submissions;
- represent, warrant and covenant that (i) you own or otherwise control all rights to such User Submissions (including any pictures contained therein) and that disclosure and use of such User Submissions by iFixit (including without limitation, publishing content on or at the Site) will not infringe or violate the rights of any third party; (ii) you own or have secured all necessary licenses, rights, consents and permissions for such User Submissions and authorize iFixit to make use of these User Submissions in the manner contemplated by the Service and these Terms of Use; (iii) that the content of each User Submission is truthful and accurate; (iv) use of the User Submission you supply does not violate these Terms of Use and will not cause injury to any person or entity; (v) the holder of any rights, including moral rights in such User Submissions, has completely and effectively waived all such rights and validly and irrevocably granted to you the right to grant the license stated above;
- acknowledge that such User Submissions may not be treated confidentially;
- agree that you will reuse all User Submissions only for non-commercial purposes and abide by the Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial Share Alike license.
You must not provide iFixit with any confidential or proprietary information that you desire or are required to keep secret. All User Submissions will be considered non-confidential and iFixit is under no obligation to treat User Submissions as proprietary information. You are solely responsible for the User Submissions you post on or through the Service. iFixit reserves the right to use User Submissions as it deems appropriate, including, without limitation, deleting, editing, modifying, rejecting, or refusing to post them. iFixit is under no obligation to offer you any payment for User Submissions or the opportunity to edit, delete or otherwise modify Content once it has been submitted to iFixit. iFixit will have no duty to attribute authorship of User Submissions to you, and will not be obligated to enforce any form of attribution by third parties.
iFixit has no obligation to monitor the Site, Service, Content, or User Submissions. iFixit may remove any User Submission at any time for any reason (including, but not limited to, upon receipt of claims or allegations from third parties or authorities relating to such User Submission), or for no reason at all.
Content Moderation. We may remove or restrict content that violates these Terms, applicable law, or our Community Guidelines (incorporated by reference into these Terms). For details on our content moderation practices, including how to report illegal content and appeal decisions, see our Community Guidelines and, for EU users, our DSA Transparency Notice. EU authorities may contact our DSA point of contact at legal@ifixit.com.
Termination
By You. You may cancel your FixBot subscription at any time as described in the Subscription Auto-Renewal section. You may also close your iFixit account entirely by contacting us at the address in the Contact section.
By iFixit — For Cause. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately, without prior notice, if you materially breach these Terms (including the Acceptable Use provisions), engage in fraud, or violate applicable law. No refund is due for termination for cause.
By iFixit — For Convenience. We may discontinue the Service or any feature (including FixBot) at any time. If we discontinue a paid subscription feature, we will give at least 30 days' notice and refund any prepaid fees for the period after discontinuation.
Effect of Termination. Upon termination or expiration of your subscription: (a) your right to use the paid features of the Service ends at the close of your last billing period (or immediately for termination for cause); (b) the following provisions survive termination: AI Chatbot (disclaimers, liability, indemnity, and AI output), Right to Use iFixit Content, User Submissions, No Warranties, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, Dispute Resolution, Miscellaneous, and the Jurisdictional Addenda.
Data Retention & Export. After your subscription ends or your account is closed, you may request a copy of your FixBot conversation history and any diagnostic data you submitted by contacting privacy@ifixit.com. We will provide an export in a commonly used, machine-readable format. After account closure, we will delete your FixBot conversation data within a reasonable period, unless retention is required by law, necessary to resolve disputes, or subject to a legal hold. For details on retention periods for specific data categories, see FixBot Data Retention in our Privacy Policy. Aggregated, de-identified data that cannot identify you may be retained indefinitely.
No Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE” AND IS WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND ANY WARRANTIES IMPLIED BY ANY COURSE OF PERFORMANCE OR USAGE OF TRADE, ALL OF WHICH ARE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMED. IFIXIT MAKES NO WARRANTIES OR REPRESENTATIONS ABOUT THE ACCURACY OR COMPLETENESS OF THE SITE'S CONTENT OR THE CONTENT OF ANY SITES LINKED TO THIS SITE AND ASSUMES NO LIABILITY OR RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY (I) ERRORS, MISTAKES, OR INACCURACIES OF CONTENT, (II) PERSONAL INJURY OR PROPERTY DAMAGE, OF ANY NATURE WHATSOEVER, RESULTING FROM YOUR ACCESS TO AND USE OF THE SERVICE, (III) CONSEQUENCES OF USING THE SITE OR YOUR EXPOSURE TO ANY CONTENT OR USER SUBMISSIONS ON THE SITE, (IV) UNAUTHORIZED DISCLOSURE OF IMAGE, INFORMATION OR DATA THAT RESULTS FROM THE UPLOAD, DOWNLOAD OR STORAGE OF USER SUBMISSIONS, OR (V) STATISTICS PROVIDED TO YOU OR OTHER USERS OF THE SERVICE INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO SITE ACTIVITY, SEARCH RESULTS, OR CONTENT VIEWS. IFIXIT IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY SEARCH RESULTS OR RANKINGS OR THE ADDITION OF OR CHANGE TO ASSOCIATED METADATA OF CONTENT ON THE SITE. IFIXIT, AND ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, SUPPLIERS, PARTNERS AND CONTENT PROVIDERS DO NOT WARRANT THAT: (A) THE SERVICE WILL BE SECURE OR AVAILABLE AT ANY PARTICULAR TIME OR LOCATION; (B) ANY DEFECTS OR ERRORS WILL BE CORRECTED; (C) ANY CONTENT OR SOFTWARE AVAILABLE AT OR THROUGH THE SERVICE IS FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS; (D) THE SITE OR THE SERVICE WILL OPERATE IN COMBINATION WITH ANY OTHER HARDWARE, SOFTWARE, SYSTEM OR DATA, OR (E) THE RESULTS OF USING THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS. IFIXIT DOES NOT WARRANT, ENDORSE, GUARANTEE, OR ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY PRODUCT OR SERVICE ADVERTISED OR OFFERED BY A THIRD PARTY THROUGH THE SERVICE OR ANY HYPERLINKED SITE OR FEATURED IN THE CONTENT OF THE SITE OR ANY BANNER OR OTHER ADVERTISING, AND IFIXIT WILL NOT BE A PARTY TO OR IN ANY WAY BE RESPONSIBLE FOR MONITORING ANY TRANSACTION BETWEEN YOU AND THIRD-PARTY PROVIDERS OF PRODUCTS OR SERVICES. AS WITH THE PURCHASE OF A PRODUCT OR USE OF A SERVICE THROUGH ANY MEDIUM OR IN ANY ENVIRONMENT, YOU SHOULD USE YOUR BEST JUDGMENT AND EXERCISE CAUTION WHERE APPROPRIATE. YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE AND ANY CONTENT IS SOLELY AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION AND RISK. WITHOUT LIMITATION OF THE GENERALITY OF THE FOREGOING, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR (1) THE DECISIONS THAT YOU MAY MAKE REGARDING THE SERVICE; (2) USE OF THE SERVICE OR CONTENT INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY CONTENT, DATA, INFORMATION, OR OTHER MATERIAL ACCESSED BY YOU IN CONNECTION WITH THE SERVICE OR THROUGH YOUR ACCOUNT, COMPUTER SYSTEM OR MOBILE DEVICE OR ANY LOSS OF DATA; AND (3) ANY LOSS, DAMAGE OR OTHER EFFECTS ON YOU THAT MAY RESULT FROM USE OF THE SERVICE OR ANY CONTENT OR THE FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THESE TERMS. NO INFORMATION OR ADVICE, WHETHER WRITTEN OR ORAL, OBTAINED BY YOU FROM IFIXIT OR THROUGH THE SERVICE WILL CREATE ANY WARRANTY OR IN ANY WAY AFFECT THE DISCLAIMERS OF WARRANTY OR LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY EXPRESSLY PROVIDED IN THESE TERMS.
Limitation of Liability
IN NO EVENT WILL IFIXIT, NOR ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, PARTNERS, SUPPLIERS OR CONTENT PROVIDERS, BE LIABLE UNDER CONTRACT, TORT, STRICT LIABILITY, NEGLIGENCE OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY WITH RESPECT TO THE SERVICE (I) FOR ANY LOST PROFITS OR SPECIAL, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, PUNITIVE, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF ANY KIND WHATSOEVER, SUBSTITUTE GOODS OR SERVICES ARISING FROM (A) ERRORS, MISTAKES, OR INACCURACIES OF CONTENT, OR (B) PERSONAL INJURY OR PROPERTY DAMAGE, OF ANY NATURE WHATSOEVER, RESULTING FROM YOUR ACCESS TO THE SITE AND USE OF THE SERVICE, (II) FOR ANY BUGS, VIRUSES, TROJAN HORSES, OR THE LIKE (REGARDLESS OF THE SOURCE OF ORIGINATION), OR (III) FOR ANY DIRECT DAMAGES IN EXCESS OF (IN THE AGGREGATE) US$10 (EXCEPT AS PROVIDED IN THE AI CHATBOT SECTION ABOVE FOR FIXBOT-RELATED CLAIMS). TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IFIXIT ASSUMES NO LIABILITY OR RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY (I) PERSONAL INJURY OR PROPERTY DAMAGE, OF ANY NATURE WHATSOEVER, RESULTING FROM YOUR ACCESS TO OR USE OF OUR SERVICE; (II) ERRORS OR OMISSIONS IN ANY CONTENT OR LOSS OR DAMAGE INCURRED AS A RESULT OF THE USE OF ANY CONTENT POSTED OR OTHERWISE MADE AVAILABLE THROUGH THE SERVICE; OR (III) USER CONTENT OR THE DEFAMATORY, OFFENSIVE, OR ILLEGAL CONDUCT OF ANY THIRD PARTY. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO CERTAIN OF THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS AND EXCLUSIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
Indemnification
You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless iFixit, its affiliates and each of its, and its affiliates’ employees, contractors, directors, suppliers and representatives from all liabilities, claims, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees and legal expenses, that arise from (i) your use or misuse of, or access to, the Service; (ii) your violation of the Terms of Use; or, (iii) the infringement by you, or any third party using your account, of any intellectual property, privacy, publicity or other right of any person or entity. iFixit reserves the right to assume the exclusive defense and control of any matter otherwise subject to indemnification by you, in which event you will assist and cooperate with iFixit in asserting any available defenses. This obligation survives indefinitely the termination and/or expiration of these Terms of Use and/or your status as a iFixit User.
International Use
The Service is operated by iFixit from the United States and by iFixit GmbH from Germany. You are responsible for compliance with local laws applicable to your use of the Service. The Jurisdictional Addenda below set out additional terms for specific markets.
Export Controls. The Service, including FixBot, is controlled and operated from the United States and may be subject to U.S. export controls and economic sanctions laws. You may not use the Service if you are located in a country subject to comprehensive U.S. sanctions (currently Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and the Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions of Ukraine), or if you are designated on any U.S. government restricted-party list, including the Treasury Department's Specially Designated Nationals List or the Commerce Department's Entity List. You represent that you are not located in a sanctioned country and are not a restricted party.
Dispute Resolution
A printed version of the Terms of Use and of any notice given in electronic form will be admissible in judicial or administrative proceedings based upon or relating to the Terms of Use to the same extent and subject to the same conditions as other business documents and records originally generated and maintained in printed form. You and iFixit agree that any cause of action arising out of or related to the Service must commence within one (1) year after the cause of action arose; otherwise, such cause of action is permanently barred.
The Terms of Use will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, excluding its conflicts of law rules, and all applicable federal laws.
ALL DISPUTES RELATING TO USE OF THIS SITE OR SERVICES WILL BE RESOLVED THROUGH CONFIDENTIAL AND BINDING MEDIATION. A mediator appointed by the parties will assist in attempting to resolve the dispute. Each party acts in an individual capacity and not as part of a class. The mediator may not consolidate claims of more than one party, or preside over any class proceeding. If the parties are unable to agree on a settlement, the mediator will act as an arbitrator to resolve the issue(s) on which the parties fail to agree and will impose a final and binding resolution on the parties with the effect of an arbitration decision. The mediator's final and binding resolution will constitute an arbitration award and will be enforceable under the Federal Arbitration Act.
You expressly agree that the exclusive jurisdiction and venue for enforcing this binding mediation agreement, or any litigation arising in the event this binding mediation agreement is held to be unenforceable, will be only the state or federal courts located in San Luis Obispo County, California, and you further agree and submit to the exercise of personal jurisdiction and venue of such courts. Use of the Service is not authorized in any jurisdiction that does not give effect to all provisions of the Terms of Use, including without limitation, this section.
BY USING THIS SITE OR SERVICES, YOU AGREE TO THE TERMS OF THE BINDING MEDIATION AGREEMENT, AND YOU GIVE UP YOUR RIGHT TO ASSERT OR DEFEND A CLAIM IN COURT AND YOUR RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY CLASS ACTION PROCEEDING.
Informal Resolution First. Before initiating any formal dispute resolution proceeding, you agree to contact us at legal@ifixit.com with a written description of your claim, including your name, the nature of the dispute, and the relief sought. We will attempt to resolve the dispute through good-faith negotiation within sixty (60) days. If the dispute is not resolved within that period, either party may proceed to binding mediation as described above. Any applicable limitations period will be tolled during this informal resolution process.
Small Claims Court. Notwithstanding the above, either party may bring an individual action in small claims court in the county where you reside (or, for iFixit, in San Luis Obispo County, California) if the claim falls within that court's jurisdiction.
30-Day Opt-Out. You may opt out of the binding mediation and class action waiver provisions by sending written notice to legal@ifixit.com within thirty (30) days of first accepting these Terms. Your notice must include your name, email address, and a clear statement that you wish to opt out. If you opt out, iFixit will also not be bound by those provisions with respect to you. Opting out does not affect any other provision of these Terms.
The binding mediation, class action waiver, and exclusive jurisdiction provisions in this section do not apply where prohibited by mandatory consumer protection law in your jurisdiction. See the Jurisdictional Addenda below for details.
Miscellaneous
The Terms of Use are the entire agreement between you and iFixit with respect to the Service and use of this Site, and supersede all prior or contemporaneous communications and proposals (whether oral, written or electronic) between you and iFixit with respect to this Site or any other of the subject matter hereof. If any provision of the Terms of Use is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that the Terms of Use will otherwise remain in full force and effect and enforceable. No failure of iFixit or the Site to enforce any of its rights under these Terms of Use will act as a waiver of such rights. The Terms of Use are personal to you, and are not assignable, transferable or sublicensable by you except with iFixit's prior written consent. iFixit may assign, transfer or delegate any of its rights and obligations hereunder without consent. No agency, partnership, joint venture, or employment relationship is created as a result of the Terms of Use and neither party has any authority of any kind to bind the other in any respect. In any action or proceeding to enforce rights under the Terms of Use, the prevailing party will be entitled to recover costs and attorneys' fees. All notices under the Terms of Use will be in writing and will be deemed to have been duly given when received, if personally delivered or sent by certified or registered mail, return receipt requested; when receipt is electronically confirmed, if transmitted by facsimile or e-mail; or the day after it is sent, if sent for next day delivery by recognized overnight delivery service. Unless otherwise indicated, the Terms of Use and all Content provided by iFixit are copyright iFixit, all rights reserved. iFixit, and the iFixit logo, as well as any other logos or brand features owned by iFixit, are trademarks or service marks of iFixit or otherwise proprietary to iFixit. The names of actual companies and products mentioned on the Site may be the trademarks or service marks of their respective owners.
You consent to receive communications from iFixit by email in accordance with these Terms and our Privacy Policy. You acknowledge and agree that all agreements, notices, disclosures, and other communications that we provide to you electronically satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing.

If you believe that Content residing on or accessible through the iFixit web site or service infringes a copyright, please send a notice of copyright infringement by facsimile, regular mail or email to Attn: Copyright Agent at the Contact specified below, containing the following information:
- A physical or electronic signature of a person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the copyright that has been allegedly infringed;
- Identification of works or materials being infringed;
- Identification of the Content that is claimed to be infringing including information regarding the location of the Content that the copyright owner seeks to have removed, with sufficient detail so that iFixit is capable of finding and verifying its existence;

Privacy
Your personal data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which includes jurisdiction-specific sections for the EU, UK, Canada, and Australia.
Jurisdictional Addenda
These addenda supplement the Terms of Use. Where an addendum conflicts with the main Terms, the addendum controls for residents of the relevant jurisdiction.
Addendum A — European Union
Applies to consumers and entrepreneurs residing in the European Union or purchasing through iFixit GmbH. Where German law or EU consumer law grants rights that exceed those in the main Terms, those rights apply.
Definitions. In this addendum, "consumer" means a natural person concluding a contract for purposes predominantly outside their trade, business, or profession (BGB § 13). "Entrepreneur" means a natural person, legal entity, or partnership with legal capacity acting in the exercise of their trade, business, or profession (BGB § 14).
A1. Contracting Entity and Governing Law
For EU purchases, your contract is with iFixit GmbH, Sigmaringer Str. 260, 70597 Stuttgart, Germany. These Terms are governed by the law of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on the International Sale of Goods (CISG). This choice of law does not apply if you are a consumer residing outside Germany and mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence would otherwise apply — in that case, you retain the benefit of those mandatory protections.
Exclusive jurisdiction for any disputes with iFixit GmbH is Stuttgart, Germany, unless mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence provides otherwise.
A2. Offer and Contract Formation
Our product listings are not binding offers but an invitation for you to submit an order. Your order is a binding offer. We may accept within two business days by express confirmation or by dispatching the goods. An automated order confirmation email does not constitute acceptance.
A3. Delivery
Delivery is made to the address you provide. We may make partial deliveries if reasonable for you. Delivery dates are estimates unless expressly stated as fixed. If advance payment is required, delivery times assume prompt payment after conclusion of the contract. In the event of force majeure or equivalent circumstances (including supply shortages, strikes, or regulatory measures), we may postpone delivery by the duration of the impediment. If delay makes performance unreasonable for you, you may withdraw from the contract.
If an ordered item becomes unavailable because we were unexpectedly not supplied by our own supplier (and we had concluded a congruent cover transaction), we may release ourselves from the contract. We will notify you immediately and refund any payments without delay. Liability for damages for non-performance is excluded unless we acted intentionally or with gross negligence regarding the unavailability; liability for pre-contractual fault (culpa in contrahendo) remains unaffected.
A4. Prices and Payment
All prices are final prices inclusive of applicable VAT. Shipping costs are displayed during checkout. We accept only the payment methods listed in the order process. Where advance payment is required, payment is due upon conclusion of the contract and receipt of the invoice. For cash-on-delivery or payment-on-account orders, payment is due upon receipt of the goods and the invoice.
A5. Retention of Title
The customer has a right of retention insofar as their counterclaim arises from the same contractual relationship (BGB § 320).
Goods remain our property until paid in full. If a third party attempts to seize goods that remain our property, you must notify us immediately.
A6. Statutory Warranty — Physical Goods
Consumers: Statutory warranty rights under applicable EU and German consumer law apply in full and cannot be excluded or limited. Goods must be as described, fit for purpose, and of satisfactory quality. You have the right to repair, replacement, price reduction, or contract rescission as provided by law. The statutory limitation period is two years from delivery.
Entrepreneurs: You must inspect goods upon delivery and notify us in writing of any apparent defects within two weeks. Warranty claims are initially limited to supplementary performance (repair or replacement at our discretion). We may make supplementary performance conditional on payment of the due price; however, you may retain a portion of the price proportionate to the defect. If supplementary performance fails or is not completed within a reasonable period, you may seek price reduction or rescission; a minor defect does not give rise to rescission. The costs of inspection and supplementary performance (transport, labor, materials) are borne in accordance with statutory provisions if a defect exists; otherwise we may claim reimbursement for costs arising from an unjustified complaint, unless the absence of a defect was not recognizable to you. A defect in part of a delivery does not entitle rejection of the entire delivery unless the partial delivery is of no interest to you. Warranty claims by entrepreneurs become time-barred one year from delivery.
A7. Digital Content and Services — FixBot
Under EU Directive 2019/770 and the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 (Part 1, Chapter 3), FixBot must conform to its description, be fit for purpose, and be supplied with all updates (including security updates) necessary to maintain conformity for the duration of your subscription.
If FixBot does not conform, you are entitled to have the non-conformity remedied at no cost within a reasonable time. If it cannot be remedied or is not remedied promptly, you may obtain a proportionate price reduction or terminate the contract and receive a refund for the affected period.
We will inform you of available updates; if you do not install an update we made available, we are not liable for non-conformity resulting solely from the missing update, provided we informed you of the consequences. For continuously supplied digital services, we are liable for any lack of conformity that occurs or becomes apparent during the subscription period (Directive 2019/770, Art. 11). These rights cannot be excluded or limited.
A8. Liability
We are liable without limitation for damage resulting from intentional misconduct or gross negligence, and for damage to life, body, or health. For consumers, we are also liable for slight negligence where we breach a material contractual obligation, limited to foreseeable damage. For entrepreneurs, liability for slight negligence is excluded except for material contractual obligations and is in any event limited to typically foreseeable damage.
Irrespective of fault, we are liable where we have maliciously concealed a defect or assumed a guarantee. A manufacturer's guarantee is a guarantee of the manufacturer and does not constitute an assumption of guarantee by us. We are also liable for impossibility of delivery arising during a period of default, unless the damage would have occurred even with timely delivery.
Liability under mandatory provisions, including the Product Liability Act and pre-contractual fault (culpa in contrahendo), remains unaffected. To the extent our liability is excluded or limited, such exclusion or limitation also applies to the personal liability of our employees, representatives, and vicarious agents.
A9. Right of Withdrawal (EU and UK)
As a consumer in the EU or UK, you have the right to withdraw from your order within 14 days of receiving the goods, or within 14 days of the start of a FixBot subscription, without giving any reason (EU Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU; UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013). To exercise this right, notify us at legal@ifixit.com or by post before the period expires. We will refund all payments received, including standard delivery charges, within 14 days, using the same payment method you used. For physical goods, you bear the direct cost of return. The right of withdrawal does not apply to personalized goods, sealed goods unsuitable for return on hygiene grounds after opening, or other categories excluded by law.
For FixBot subscriptions: if you expressly request that the service begin during the withdrawal period, you acknowledge that your right of withdrawal is lost once the service has been fully performed (Consumer Rights Directive Art. 16(a); UK CCR 2013 reg. 36). If you withdraw before full performance, you will owe a proportionate amount for the service provided up to the point of withdrawal (Art. 14(3)). This consent is captured at checkout.

A10. Pre-Contractual Information — FixBot Subscription
Before you complete a FixBot subscription, we provide the pre-contractual information required by EU Consumer Rights Directive Art. 6, including: trader identity (A1), service description and interoperability (see AI Chatbot section), total price inclusive of VAT (A4), renewal terms (see Subscription Auto-Renewal), 14-day withdrawal right (A9), and cancellation methods (account settings, legal@ifixit.com, or post).
A11. Dispute Resolution
We do not participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board. Your right to bring proceedings before a competent court remains unaffected.
Addendum B — United Kingdom
Applies to consumers and businesses residing in the United Kingdom.
B1. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
For UK purchases, these Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales, unless you reside in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in which case you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
B2. Statutory Consumer Rights — Physical Goods
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013:
- You have 30 days from delivery to reject faulty goods and receive a full refund.
- After 30 days and within six months, you are entitled to one repair or replacement attempt. If that fails, you may claim a price reduction or final rejection.
- Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes your statutory rights under UK consumer law.
B3. Unfair Terms
Any term in the main Terms that would be unfair within the meaning of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 does not bind you. This includes, without limitation, the $10 aggregate liability cap and the mandatory arbitration clause, which are not enforceable against UK consumers.
Addendum C — Canada
Applies to residents of Canada, with additional provisions for residents of Quebec and Ontario.
C1. Governing Law
These Terms are supplemented by applicable federal and provincial consumer protection legislation. Where provincial law grants rights that exceed those in the main Terms, those rights apply. Mandatory arbitration and class action waivers in the main Terms may not be enforceable under provincial consumer protection law and do not apply to the extent prohibited by applicable law.
C2. Digital Services — FixBot
FixBot must be as described, of acceptable quality, and fit for its disclosed purpose under applicable provincial consumer protection legislation. Where provincial law provides remedies for non-conforming digital services (including repair, replacement, price reduction, or contract rescission), those remedies apply notwithstanding anything in the main Terms.
C3. Cooling-Off and Cancellation Rights
Provincial consumer protection laws may provide cooling-off or cancellation rights for distance contracts and internet agreements. The conditions and periods vary by province:
- Quebec: The Consumer Protection Act (CQLR c P-40.1) provides cancellation rights for distance contracts, subject to the conditions set out in the Act. See www.opc.gouv.qc.ca for details.
- Ontario: The Consumer Protection Act, 2002 provides cancellation rights for internet agreements in certain circumstances, including where required disclosures were not provided. See ontario.ca for details.
- Other provinces: Statutory cooling-off or cancellation rights under applicable provincial law apply where provided.
To cancel, notify us at legal@ifixit.com within the applicable period. We will refund all amounts paid within 15 days of cancellation.
C4. Automated Processing Disclosure (Quebec Law 25)
Quebec residents: FixBot uses automated processing, including large language models, to generate responses to your questions. FixBot does not make binding decisions about you — it provides informational responses only. If you would like a human to review any matter where you believe an automated response has affected you, contact us via our customer service form or at privacy@ifixit.com.
C5. Anti-Spam (CASL)
We send commercial electronic messages only with your express or implied consent, as required by Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation. Subscription confirmation, renewal reminders, and service notices are sent on the basis of your existing relationship with us. You may withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe mechanism in any email or by contacting privacy@ifixit.com. Withdrawal takes effect within 10 business days.
Addendum D — Australia
Applies to consumers and businesses residing in Australia.
D1. Australian Consumer Law
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). Nothing in the main Terms — including the "AS IS" disclaimer, the $10 aggregate liability cap, and the warranty disclaimers — limits, excludes, or modifies any right or remedy you have under the ACL that cannot be lawfully excluded.
For goods not ordinarily acquired for personal, domestic, or household use, our liability is limited, at our option, to replacement, repair, or refund of the purchase price.
For services (including FixBot), our liability is limited, at our option, to re-supply of the service or payment of the cost of having it re-supplied, to the extent permitted by law.
D2. Statutory Guarantees
Under the ACL, goods must be of acceptable quality, fit for disclosed purpose, matching their description, and accompanied by clear title. Services (including FixBot) must be provided with due care and skill, fit for any disclosed purpose, and within a reasonable time. These guarantees cannot be excluded.
- Minor failure (goods): We will repair, replace, or refund at your election.
- Minor failure (services): We will re-supply the service or refund the affected period, at your election.
- Major failure: You may reject goods or terminate the service contract and obtain a refund.
D3. Dispute Resolution
The main Terms' binding arbitration clause does not apply to Australian consumers. You retain the right to bring proceedings in Australian courts and to contact the ACCC or your state fair trading office regarding consumer disputes.
Addendum E — United States
Applies to all US residents and supplements the main Terms. State-specific provisions apply only to residents of the relevant states.
E1. Subscription Auto-Renewal — California
California residents: The subscription auto-renewal disclosures in the main Terms are made in accordance with the California Automatic Renewal Law (Bus. & Prof. Code §§ 17600–17606). Any free trial offer will clearly state the length of the trial and the price following the trial period.
E2. California Residents — Additional Rights
In addition to rights described in the Privacy Policy's California section:
- You may opt out of targeted advertising by following the "Do Not Sell or Share" link on our website.
- You may request information about our data collection practices and have inaccurate data corrected.
- We will not discriminate against you for exercising CPRA rights.
E3. State Cooling-Off Rights
Several states provide statutory cooling-off or cancellation rights for internet agreements or subscriptions. Where applicable state law provides such a right, it applies notwithstanding anything in the main Terms.
E4. Warranty Disclaimers
The "AS IS" warranty disclaimers in the main Terms apply to the maximum extent permitted by state law. Some states do not allow exclusion of implied warranties in consumer transactions; to the extent your state provides implied warranty protections that cannot be waived, those protections apply.
E5. Notice for California Users
Under California Civil Code Section 1789.3, California users are entitled to the following consumer rights notice: The Service is provided by iFixit, located at 1330 Monterey St., San Luis Obispo, CA 93401.
