      • Whenever the motherboard is separated from the heatsink, it's best practice to remove and reapply all thermal paste and putty. This ensures even coverage of thermal material. Otherwise, your console may get damaged from overheating or won't perform as expected.

      • Use a spudger to carefully remove as much thermal paste and putty as you can from both the motherboard and heatsink. It will be located on the CPU, GPU, VRAM, and power delivery.

      • Be very careful not to scrape up or damage any of the fragile surface‑mounted components on the motherboard.

      • Use high‑concentration (>90%) isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab (or coffee filter) to remove all remaining thermal material and its residue from both the motherboard and heatsink.

      • Take your time with this step and make sure all surfaces are thoroughly clean.

      • Apply a small bead of thermal paste to the center of the CPU and GPU dies.

      • Apply thermal putty to the VRAM chips and the line of power stages.
