Background
The iPhone 18 Pro Max was announced on September 9th, 2026 alongside the iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro. It's an iteration over the 17 Pro Max, featuring the same large aluminum unibody coupled with a glass pane underneath the large camera plateau. Just like the last three generations, it has an Action button above the volume buttons and a Camera Control button on the right edge.
The vapor chamber, new for last year, has improved, offering better cooling and 3x the surface area for the new and completely redesigned A20 Pro chip. The screen size remains the same as the previous generation at 6.9 inches.
The rear main 48 MP Fusion camera now features variable aperture and software-adjustable shutter speed. Other improvements include better battery life, faster wired charging, and a smaller Dynamic Island.
The iPhone 18 Pro is available in Burgundy, Glacier, Silver, and Black and starts at $1,299.

The 18 Pro Max has a small cutout for the Ceramic Shield glass pane underneath the rear cameras.
Volume controls and the Action Button can be found on the left edge, while the power button and Camera Control button are situated on the right. Three cameras protrude from the backside. This model has no home button.
